Ethernet Global Data
　　Ethernet Global Data (EGD) is a communications protocol developed by GE in 1998. Ethernet Global Data (EGD) allows a device (the Producer) to transfer data to other devices (the Consumers) on the network. Applications requiring high-speed networking and coordination from PLC to PLC (or PLC to GE Variable Frequency Drives) can take advantage of EGD. Ethernet Global Data is up to 10 times more efficient on bandwidth utilization than the normal polling system.

2、PLC与上位机信号的交换采用UDP/IP 协议，以EGD（EthernetGlobal Data）的报文格式交换信号（Exchange）；
PLC系统的EGD网与TCP/IP 网通过SWITCH的端口设置区分开来，与上位机通过100Mbps 光缆相连
3、GE 系列90-70 PLC与加热炉过程计算机的通讯
　　以太网全局数据（EGD）Exchange是为设备之间数据进行简单、有效的通讯而设计的，它允许一个设备（Producer）以一个规定的列表传输速率传送数据（Exchange）给一个或更多的其他设备（Consumer），每套GE 系列90-70 PLC 系统可配置Produced Exchanges 和Consumed Exchanges（Exchange 总数不能超过255 个，但两者的数量可以任意组合分配），用以区分是发送还是接收加热炉过程计算机的信息。在每个Exchange 中可定义通讯的字节数、内容、发送或接收的设备IP 地址号等，每个Exchange 的ID号不能重复，且与上位机的定义相对应；每个Exchange 的大小不能超过1400 字节。
4、EGD较老，现已较少使用，被TC-NET替代。
